Although there are quite a few note-diminutions between measures 42-43 at the end of this period, the main tendency is to have note-addition, coming from the residue in measures 37-38. Filling up the rests that appear at the beginning of the period raises the rhythmic density significantly. Again, this density is lowered already between measures 42-43. Dynamics move quite fast from pianissimo in bar 39 to forte in bar 43. No accents are added and the phrasing is not affected. The melodic curve remains very capricious throughout this period.
